Mars mansion

This idea was scrapped and a new, more humanitarian design was created. 

In this design the Mars crew lives in spherical rooms with 4 beds in each of them, this will make it a total of 25 living space rooms. there will also be 5 lounges which will work as public living area where all residents can stay together, in each of the lounges there will be 6 chairs and 2 tables, there will also be a vending machine and a coffee maker. Every person will have a card which they can use to purchase coffee and snacks with a limit of 1 snack and 2 coffees per sol. There will as quickly as possible be built 5 more lounges to be able to support 60 persons taking a break at the same time since the minimum active staff at the colony will be 40 persons. In a multipurpose room the actual work will take place, in the multipurpose room there will be different types of fabricators to create the materials needed from basic resources. There will be battery and power cell chargers, the batteries will be used to power the tools while the bigger power cells is used to power the rovers and in the future the ion engines of the spaceships. To get the power we will use a nuclear reactor with a backup solar array. The main reason to why we do not use solar panels for the main power source is because of the longer distance from the sun and the big, very common dust storms. This base will be located 7 meters underground at the north pole. 

For going outside you will have to get in to spacesuit that is attached to the side of the base to avoid the mars dust to get into the base and destroy the lunges of the crew. The mars rovers will be be more like of road cars attached  to the base via a hatch. 

The water will be made from melting and filtrating the ice on the mars poles. For the oxygen we will separate the carbon atom from the O² molecule in CO² the carbon can be used as a flammable fuel in the right composition but for we will mostly use it to create nano-tubes for power transition or diamond for drills or other tools. The drills will be used to mine the martian soil and find valuable resources to sell to earth, the diamonds can also be sold to Earth really expensive compared to synthetic diamonds made on Earth, this is because they are from mars. We will also sell rocks and in some cases even water from mars to get the economy working. The food will be grown in indoor grow-beds and the plants will also help produce oxygen for the colony. The plants that we will grow on Mars will be oats and quinoa. For protein we will grow different types of fish to variate the food, the different fish will be albacore, salmon and rainbow trout. 

There will be cameras in the lounges and you will be able to purchase TV-channels were you can observe the 24:7 life on mars. There will be an other TV-channel pack were you can watch the cams on the rovers and drones. On the fifth crew cycle a TV team of 8 people will be sent to mars and the firs martian TV show will be recorded. The martian TV shows will mostly be every day life on mars but also shows like the news show "Mars today" and a show were we showcase the different workplaces and jobs on Mars called "How do they do it? on Mars". 

If there was going to be a baby it would break the martian laws and the baby would have to share food with its parents and the parents would go to jail for 18 months when they got back to Earth. In case of a nuclear reactor failure the colony will run at solar power and in case of an explosion in the reactor core the entire colony is going to get wiped out and there is nothing to do about it.
